What's City 36?
City 36 is one of the most developed cities in the Gears of War universe. What is so unique about this city is its two layer structure. On the bottom is the Old City 36. It is one of the oldest cities and had the most high-end technology of its time. Many people immigrated to this city for opportunity, because of that, the city became over populated very fast. Using the skyscrapers in the city, the people of City 36 completed the construction of the New City 36, which is the city we are seeing right now. The grounds in the New City 36 are built together in segments and were locked together. To strengthen the structure support for the building on the top, most of the ground above are locked together tightly and unable to be detached. For the purpose of large constructions in Old City 36, the roads remain detachable. Because of the city above blocking the light, the Old City 36 became a dark place and requires artificial lights constantly. Soon enough, it becomes the area where the low lives are thrown and are forced to live there. Due to the recent discovery of an incredible amount of Imulsion under City 36, a COG research center was built here for weapon research. This is the main cause of the massive locust attack.
